Community Addiction Studies Level 5
This is a Level 5 Certificate course leading to a level 6/7 Diploma in Addiction Studies. The course is 100 hours in total and classes take place over the academic year from September to May (every Tuesday morning in Clondalkin). Students must attend a class of 3 hours per week. Applicants must be over 21 years of age.
Modules include:
- Pharmaceutical information on drugs and their effects.
- Process of Addiction
- How addiction affects Individuals, Families and Communities.
- Social/Media Analysis
- Personal Development
- How Individuals and Communities can Respond.
- Individual Course Work and Interagency Visits to Addiction Services.

STORM Skills Training
Storm Skills Training is a high-quality, effective self-harm and suicide prevention training package that is supported by a wealth of experience and expertise. STORM Skills training empowers professionals to have more effective conversations that help to reduce stress and fewer lives lost to suicide and self-harm.
SAOR
The aim of SAOR training is to enable you to have a short helpful conversation with someone about their alcohol or other drug use using the SAOR Screening and Brief Intervention model. The training, based on the 2nd edition of SAOR (2017), is delivered using a blended learning approach. Participants complete a short eLearning module on HSEL and in advance of a 1-day skills practice workshop.
Training For Teachers
The Task Force prevention worker can provide training to teachers on new and emerging drug trends. This service is offered as part of comprehensive support to schools which includes the roll out of evidence-based prevention programmes.
Drugs Policy Development for Schools
The Task Force Prevention Worker provides support and guidance on the development and review of drugs policies with the aim of keeping those impacted by drug misuse in the school setting and being a supportive and inclusive setting to address such issues.
Naloxone
Nicholas Jose Diez McKenna CDATF Service User Representative provides naloxone and overdose response training for the community working closely with UISCE.
